hiptomyjive replied to your post: MY favorite plot hole is Im pretty sure the graveyard isnt in Manhattan. You can see the skyline in the backround. So they cant be on the Island of Manhattan. I dont even think theyre in NY. From how the skyline is positioned it would appear that the graveyard is to the west of Manhattan. They arent in New York, theyre in Jersey… and the doctor didnt mention shit about there being too much time distortion in the dirty jerse
the paradox destroyed winter quay, so that timeline didnt happen. I just dont understand if the doctor cant visit or help because they are in NY but they arent?
Yeah, I’m not sure. Because Winter Quay might have been brought back because the headstone was still there at the end because that one Angel managed to survive. Either way, in both eventualities (Winter Quay existing at the beginning of the episode and Rory’s headstone being in NJ and then Winter Quay not existing and his headstone still being there at the end), how the heck did they end up being buried in NJ?
I don’t know how to explain any of it. There are SO many ways for the Doctor to go back and see them. UNLESS, Winter Quay was brought back when the Angel sent Rory and Amy back. If that’s the case, the Doctor would not be able to see them even if he traveled to NJ in the TARDIS and walked into NYC. Furthermore, the whole jumping off the roof and creating a paradox earlier on in the episode, not only saved Rory from dying alone and giving the Doctor one last chance to be with them, it served as a way of making Amy and Rory realize just how much they need and love each other and providing Amy with the strength she needed to say goodbye to her Raggedy Man and Melody.
And as nice and neat as that sounds in my head, it still doesn’t explain how River can just zap herself to see them (within that theory, she’d visit them in Winter Quay without the Doctor…who can’t?) and not get chased by Angels.
Unless she did evade them and visit her parents at least once or twice in Winter Quay and was, consequently, chased by Angels and that’s part of what was happening in the Crash of the Byzantium.
This is too much.
believeandhow asked: My biggest issue is, okay so the Doctor can't go to New York circa 1938. Well, there are planes and trains and boats, why can't the Ponds use any of those to get to I dunno, Philadelphia, or back to London, or ANYWHERE ELSE ON EARTH THAT THE DOCTOR IS ABLE TO VISIT. For that matter, what's keeping the Doctor from landing outside the city and then heading in with another method of transportation. And why can't River just use her vortex manipulator to get them out, ala Jack in S3. PLOT HOLES.
EXACTLY!!! Time and the TARDIS are not the only ways to travel! That’s my problem with it right now. Unless, Rory and Amy finally made the “Doctor or real life” decision and realized that if they left New York City, they would end up traveling with the Doctor again. Or, if Winter Quay is back and the Angels have Rory and Amy, they know they can’t get away, so they stay rather than run.

Well, on a whim (actually, it was because I was writing a blog post about the song because of the DW dream I had last night and woke up with Manta Rays stuck in my head), I searched the song and FOUND THE VIDEO THAT THE REBLOGGER MADE. YYYYEEESSSS!!!!!

And the day’s coming, when I’ll look into that man’s eyes…my Doctor…and he won’t have the faintest idea who I am. And I think it’s going to kill me.

He saw her little face peeking, afraid and tired from all the running she had done that night. The Doctor smiled softly and called her over.
“It’s alright,” he said, “you can trust me. What’s your name? Where did you come from?”
“I ran away,” the girl replied, shivering as a breeze swept through the alleyway. “They had masks, and they kept poking me with needles.”
He frowned as she wiggled her nose to stop from sneezing. “Are you sick?”
“I don’t know. I-I think so…it hurt.”
“Was it…was it a hospital you ran from?”
“No.” Her eyes were bright in the moonlight and she was determined to make him understand. “It hurt. My hands…my hair, they changed. And it hurt. Everywhere.”
“Your hair changed?”
But the little girl didn’t hear him, looking over her shoulder in anxiousness. “They’re still looking for me,” she said, and then turned back to him. “Please don’t tell them I was here.”
“Do you know where you’re going?”
“The Forest. The Gamma Forest.” She smiled. “I heard the guards outside my room talking about it. It sounds magical, no one ever goes there. I can hide and be safe.”
“Where are your parents?”
“I don’t know.”
The Doctor took a deep breath. He glanced to where the TARDIS stood on the other end of the road. He looked back down at the little girl.
“I can take you there. It’ll be faster, safer than you running off on your own. Here, hold onto my hand.” She took the hand he offered her, and he squeezed it encouragingly.
“What’s your name?” he asked again with a big grin.
The girl smiled back, feeling relieved for the first time in a long while.
“Melody, sir,” she said. “And you?”
“Hello, Melody! I’m the Doctor.” Suddenly, they heard a loud crash and a pack of dogs barking, getting closer to them. The Doctor let out a booming laugh, tugged Melody’s hand, and yelled out, “Run!”
This song reminds me of the Doctor and River.
Especially the chorus.
All I want
Is to know your name
And whisper it in your ear
With your arms around my neck.
You’ve haunted me in colors
I’ve never seen
I feel strange and unprotected,
But I’m weightless like I’m falling on the moon.
I’m falling slow for you
Top Reasons why I love River Song → She’s loyal.
RIVER: Sorry, you’re not allowed to see inside the book. It’s against the rules.
THE DOCTOR: What rules?
RIVER: Your rules.
I think I just miss the Doctor when he’s happy. My heart can take no more angst.
