I’m plugged into a Teen Wolf soundtrack playlist and finally updating Love in the Time of Werewolves.

Chapter 4 is going to be great!

AU - The Lie

└ John finds out that Sherlock faked his death before he returns. He decides to give the detective a taste of his own medicine.

…wow…

I want to write this so badly, but I don’t think I can do the characters any kind of justice at all.  I just wouldn’t write them well.

I have time.

In Real Time

“Amy!  I’m home!” Rory called as his keys jangled into the dish by the door.  ”Amy?  I really need some help with this food.”  One of the many bags in his arms almost tipped over.  ”Please?”

There was still no response.  ”Amy, are you home?”  He burst into the kitchen and dropped everything on the table, letting a few things roll out of the bags.

“Well, where have you gone Amelia Pond?” Rory mused to the silent house as he let his parka slide off.  He hung his jacket on a chair and began to put everything away, humming as he went.  Somewhere upstairs, there was a bang.

Rory froze and looked to the ceiling.  ”Amy?”  And on the off-chance that one of them had dropped in, “Doctor?  River?”

No response.

“Hello?”

Donna’s having a bad day.

“Damn.  Damn, damn.  Bugger-all and damn!”

Donna stands in the car park, still holding tightly to her ripped grocery bag.

“Bugger, damn, damn!” she adds for good measure as she kneels down to get her food.  This day cannot get any worse.  Shaun woke up in the middle of the night and got sick.  Then, little Christie got sick in the morning, only five minutes after Donna had gotten back into bed after taking care of the husband.  The dog, Spartacus, peed on the carpet.  Mother called and insisted on talking at length about her night out with “the ladies” in her new neighborhood.  Meanwhile, Christie was ill on the floor next to her bed, where Sparty suddenly decided he had to walk around.

And now, this.  This stupid bag has to break and spill her groceries all across the car park.

As Donna shifts to grab a loaf of bread, her foot kicks a stray orange and it rolls quickly away.

“Oh, come on!”

A man steps up to the fruit and snatches it quickly up from rolling under a car.

“I believe this is yours?” he says, offering it to Donna.

“Yes.  Thanks,” Donna says, still preoccupied by trying to get all of the food in her arms.

“Here, let me…”

“No, no, I’ve got it.”

Still, he grabs the items she can’t and stands with her.

“Well, if you’re helping, then the car is that way,” Donna says without even looking.  She leads the man to her car and begins to fumble for her keys.  The bread and a can of soup fly out of her arms.  ”Bugger!”

The man runs to the food, almost tripping over his long legs.  ”I have it!  I have it!”

“Yeah, yeah,” Donna says, distracted as she pulls at the keys in her pocket.  They burst out with a jangle.  ”Finally.”  She unlocks the car and begins to throw the food, unceremoniously into the back seat.  ”There, it all goes there,” she directs, waving her hands at the car.

The man bends over and places what he has, neatly, onto the seat.  ”There you are!  Bags are never very trustworthy, are they?  Always willing to split, or open at the most inopportune moment.”

“Yeah.  Yeah, I guess,” Donna says, finally getting a good look at the man who helped her.

He’s tall, lanky, and wearing a strange brown suit with a bow tie.  His hair hangs dangerously close to poking his eye.

“A bow tie?”

“Cool, no?”  He looks almost as though he wants her approval.

“Yes.  Cool.”

Then, Donna notices how he’s looking at her.  Like he’s appraising her, or he’s finally found the remote, after a long search, hidden deep in the couch.  How could he have found her?  She doesn’t even know him.

“Have I got something in my teeth?” he asks.

“What?  No.  Nothing.”  There’s something about his eyes.  ”Do I know you?”

He looks surprised.  ”Me?  No.  Just a stranger, passing through, helping redheads with spilt groceries, taking care of crying children, and such.”

“Yes…oh!  Crying children.  I really have to go home.  Thanks so much for your help…”

“Do you have children?” he asks suddenly.  He looks genuinely interested.  And proud?

“One.  A little girl.  Christine Jennifer.  Christie, really.  Everyone calls her Christie.  She’s sick right now.  Along with her dad.  Stomach flu, I think.”

“Christie?  I bet she’s a spitfire little redhead, like her mother.”

“Oh yes, always getting into trouble that one.  But, she’s much too adorable to punish properly.  Mother says we’re spoiling her.  Granddad says she’s perfect,” Donna realizes she’s rambling.  ”Oh, I’m sorry.  Don’t mean to spill my life story at your feet.”

“No worries.  It sounds like you have a lovely family,” the man says with a smile.

“They are.  They really are.  Make awful days worth it, you know?  Have you got a family?”

The man looks like his mind has gone somewhere distant, though he still looks at Donna.  ”In a way, yes.  A wonderful family, full of…well, full of people like you, if it’s not too bold to say.”

“Your family must get into loads of trouble, then!”

“Hole in one!” the man says, laughing.

“That sounds lovely.  And I would truly love to spend more time talking in the car park, but the family is sick.  You should come have dinner with us some time.  When we’re all healthy, of course.”

“Maybe.  Maybe, I will,” he says, shaking her hand.

Without even thinking about it, Donna hugs him.  He holds her tight and, for a moment, it’s the safest and most calm she’s felt in days.  Then, she backs up.  ”I’m so sorry.  I don’t know what came over me.  That was…I’m sorry.”  She quickly opens her door and gets into the car.

He doesn’t answer.  Just stands there and watches her fumble with her keys.

“I, um…I do really mean that dinner invitation.  Here’s my business card.  The address is right there for you.”  She reaches into the glove box and pulls out a card.  ”Call me and we’ll set a date!”

“Yes,” he says, absently, looking at the card.

Donna closes her door, starts the car, and rolls down her window.  As the man walks away, she leans out and calls, “Goodbye, Doctor!”

The man turns, looking bewildered.  ”What did you just say?”

Donna, confused herself, replies, “I’m not sure.  I think I called you a doctor.  I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me.  Maybe it was the bow tie.”  She shrugs.

“Yes,” he says with a smile.  ”Maybe.  Goodbye, Donna.”

Lavinia, the Avox’s story.

It’s only the first chapter so far.  Read and review =]

Somehow, my Glee/Blaine fic isn’t working out, but I’m having no trouble writing a Hunger Games fic about Lavinia the Avox.

OKAY. Blaine starts high school, attempt number bajillion.

I like this one the most.  I don’t like the very very beginning.

Anyway, before I put this on fanfiction.net, please read and criticize!  I want to edit and perfect before I keep going.

This is something I’ve been working on in my head for a while. Now that I’ve found its voice, I’m writing it.

Below, you will find a pre-Dalton Blaine fic that I’ve been attempting to get onto paper ever since Darren joined the cast of Glee. I love his character and what he’s developed into, but I wanted to explore where he was before he met Kurt. So, I’ve started and I need some help.

This is just a start. And may not even be the true beginning, but please read and give me your thoughts. It’s a little broken right now and needs some editing on my part, but I’d love some thoughts about character and story and style so far.

Thanks!

Someone found out.
People know.
It’s out. Very, very out.

It’s not a big deal. It doesn’t matter.

At least, it didn’t until it got out. To a few people. Just a few, thank goodness, because all of this disgust just from them is almost too much. If everyone knew…if the guys knew…

That’s notnsomething to think about. The guys are friends and friends accept you for everything you are. This little detail won’t change anything. It shouldn’t. Whenever they do find out, if they find out, there’s nothing to worry about. They wouldn’t ignore him, avoid him, prank him, treat him like he’s fatally contagious. Friends don’t do those things.

Just a few people. Only some people do that. And Blaine could handle it. If only they weren’t so harsh. If only they hadn’t kept his book. If only he could be sure no one else would react this way. If only he hadn’t trusted them enough to write during rehearsal.

Isn’t there something fundamentally wrong with other performers reacting like this?

They were doing Les Miz and, Blaine, freshman though he was, had managed to land Enjoras. He and Spencer (who he’d convinced to join him at auditions) had become the girls’ favorites and were quickly rising in popularity with the upperclassmen of the show. It amused Blaine how much his best friends were enjoying the second-hand attention they were getting in the halls. “We’re so going places!” Rory declared one day, which was only partially right, Blaine figured - Rory maybe end up somewhere on his looks alone.

“Female places!” Greg said.

Damian snorted into his math homework. “You’re only going to the Principle’s office.”

“If anyone’s going anywhere it’s Blaine and me and we’re going to be the leads in every show!” Spencer decided.

Life in high school was looking pretty great.

Then, he brought the book to rehearsal.

It was a full run-through and Blaine had a nice stretch of time to do nothing. He’d finished his homework and he didn’t want to read. He pulled out the book.

This was the notebook with everything in it. Thoughts, ideas, plans, doodles, lyric fragments, feelings.

He started to write.

Today, Damian was reading “The Great Gatsby” at lunch- for fun, mind you- and he said to me, well, us, “Nick should give up with women and get a cat or a man. He’s just hopeless.” I don’t particularly agree with that, but honest to goodness if my heart isn’t still in my throat.

I know I’ve said stuff like this so many times before, but I NEED to know where his interests lie. He’s never said anything about girls all the time I’ve known him and we both know that Kelsey from history likes him. And then he says stuff like that in the middle of lunch!

I should just ask him, right? Would that be weird to hear from your best friend? Yes? No. I can’t. “Hey, Dame, do you like girls or boys?”

“No, just say, ‘Hey, BFF, be my butt buddy,’” someone said in his ear.

GAH! It absolutely makes my heart melt that he says “I think it’s brilliant” when she asks about having a baby.

Yes.  I realize I wrote the thing, but do you think I’m making them say things?  They just do it in the scene I’m watching right here in my mind’s eye.

And they are the sweetest little couple.

“I think it’s brilliant.”

The Happy Couple

“James!  James!” Lily could barely control her giggling as she ran through the house.  ”Stop it, James!  No!  It’s not fair!”

“My cookie!” he shouted as he chased her onto a couch in the den.

“It’s mine!”  She wriggled underneath him, trying to keep the last cookie away from him.  She pushed at him with her knees and he started to tickle her sides.  She couldn’t speak from laughing.  She held tight to the little chocolate chip cookie.

“No!  No!” she gasped out.  ”Stopit!”  She laughed so hard, tears were streaming down her face.

The tickling stopped abruptly and he grinned at her.  Then, he lifted himself off of her and, for a moment, she thought she had won.  But, with a roar of triumph, he laid himself out flat right on top of her.  Lily squealed as he squished her into the cushions.

“Mrs. Potter, relinquish the cookie or you will meet your very flat end,” he said in his best deep, threatening voice.

“No.”  Lily’s giggles were muffled by his shirt.

“I will give you one more warning,” he said, cracking a grin, “hand over the cookie or suffer the consequences.”

She smiled up at James and shoved the cookie in her mouth.  He started laughing hard at the little overstuffed, mischievous grin on her face and she pushed him onto the floor.  As she chewed the cookie, Lily watched her husband laughing at her.  Suddenly, he grabbed her hand and pulled her off the couch, too.  She spit out some cookie in surprise and it got on his face.

“Gee, Lils,” he said, wiping away the crumbs, “thanks for a bit of the cookie.  Next time, aim for my mouth.”

She snorted with laughter in an effort not to spit out the rest of her dessert.

“Tasty?” he asked.

Lily nodded down at him.  ”So good,” she said after swallowing it.  ”Best cookie I’ve ever had.  Too bad you didn’t want any.”

His smile widened and he reached up to push some of her hair back.  He let his hand rest on her cheek.

“You are something else, Lily.”

“A good something else, or a bad something else?” she asked.

“The perfect something else.”

The cookie was already long forgotten.

She sighed happily and put her head down on his chest.  He put his arms around her and they spent a few more silent minutes there on the floor.

Something occurred to Lily.

“James.”

“Lily.”

“What do you think of a baby?”

“Which one?  There are so many out there.”

She gave his shoulder a light slap.  ”Haha, so funny.”

He chuckled and she shook lightly with his laugh.  It made her smile a little more.

“I mean…why don’t we have a baby?” she tried again.

She listened to his breathing for a minute or two.  Lily wasn’t sure what he was thinking, but she knew he would be sincere this time.  He started running his hand up and down her back.  Lily closed her eyes and waited.

“I think it’s brilliant,” he whispered.

sleuthingsheets-deactivated2012 asked: Harry Potter & the Doctor

Quick Note: 10th Doctor and young, pre-Hogwarts Harry.  And Donna Noble.  Because we always need some Donna in our lives.

~*~*~*~

And once again, here he was, hiding from Dudley and his gang.  This time, he was sitting in the tall grass of the field just a few blocks away from Privet Drive.  He picked a blade of grass from the ground in front of him and started twisting it.  Sighing, he threw that piece and picked another, all the while listening for any indication that his cousin had found him out.

Why did he have to be a speccy, skinny boy with messy hair?  It just wasn’t fair.  If his parents were still alive, he wouldn’t have to do this.

He grabbed a fistful of grass and threw it in the air.  As he watched it come down, he heard a strange grinding noise coming from behind him.  Quickly, he turned around and scrambled to get off the ground.  A small light pushed through the grasses and into the late afternoon sky.  Harry pushed his glasses up on the bridge of his nose and squinted in the direction of the sound, but was only able to see the grass.

Soon, it stopped and he heard the faint sound of a door opening.

“Oh, great, we’ve landed on some grass planet.  This is just brilliant.  Come on, Doctor, back inside,” a woman’s voice said not too far from Harry.

“No, we’re definitely in England.  Smell the air,” said a male voice.  Probably the Doctor she was talking to.

“You’re identifying where we are based on the smell?  So, you’re an alien and a bloodhound now?”

“Someone’s grumpy.”

“I just wanted a spot of tea and fish and chips.  Why are we here?”

The top of a blade of grass blew onto Harry’s face when a small breeze came by.  It tickled and he sneezed.

“Someone’s here,” the Doctor said.

“What?”

“A heard a sneeze.”

“Well, I didn’t hear anything.  What?  Have you got super hearing now, too?”

“Shhh, Donna.  Hello?  Hello out there?  We won’t harm you.  You can come here.”

Harry thought about it for a moment.  They seemed nice enough.  And if Dudley did ever find him, it was always good to have older people around.  He started to walk towards the man’s voice.

“Are you coming?  We won’t hurt you.”

Within a few moments, Harry found the source of the voices as well as a funny blue box, standing in the middle of a small clearing.

“Well, hello there,” the Doctor said with a smile.  ”Are you lost?”

“Do you need help getting home?” the woman, Donna, asked him.

“No.  I’m hiding.”

“Hiding?” Donna looked concerned.  ”What from?”

“My cousin.  He’s going to beat me up.”

“Well, that just won’t do,” the Doctor crossed his arms.

“Not at all.  What’s your name, sweetheart?” Donna said.

“Harry.  Harry Potter.”

If he wasn’t mistaken, that was a look of shock on her face.  Amusement on his.

“I - well, I….Doctor, this…” Donna stopped and regained her composure.  ”Donna Noble.  And this is - “

“I’m the Doctor.  It’s really a pleasure to meet you.”

“You too.”

“Would you like to hide in my ship while we’re here?”

“Ship?”  What was this man on about.

“My space ship.  See, we’re time travelers and we’ve just landed here in…1990, is my estimate…in our ship.”

Harry looked around for it, but there wasn’t anything but the three of them, the box, and the grass.   “I would really like to, but are you sure you landed your ship here?  I don’t see it.”

“Yes, it is.  It’s this box here.”

THis was confusing.  How was a police box a spaceship?  How do they even fit in there?

“I know, right?  Absolutely bonkers,” Donna seemed to know what he was thinking.

“Come on, then,” the Doctor said, opening the door.

Harry stepped inside of a large room full of buttons, lights, and strange sounds.  ”It’s bigger on the inside.”

“Awww, I like saying that bit,” the Doctor said as he stepped inside behind Harry and Donna.  ”It’s my favorite part of introducing people to my TARDIS.”

“It’s amazing.”

“Yes, she is, isn’t she?”

“Come here, Harry, let me get you some food.  You are impossibly thin!” Donna took his hand and lead him to a small table with a tray of scones.  ”We were going to have tea, so this is all I have right now.  Someone overshot the landing and tea isn’t happening anymore.  Eat as many as you like.”

They looked delicious.  Harry was suddenly hungry.  He picked up a scone and absolutely relished in the first bite.

“There you go, sweetheart.”  Donna ruffled his hair.

“Thank you,” Harry said around a mouthful of food.

“I’m glad you like them.  But, Harry.  You can’t stay here too long.  Okay?  I can’t change the course of history, so you will have to go back to the Dursleys.  I’m sorry.”

He swallowed.  ”Do I really have to?”

The Doctor sighed and knelt to the floor next to him.  ”Yes, but I promise you everything gets better very soon.  You won’t always have to live with your aunt and uncle.  And Dudley won’t always be so awful to you.  He will for a little while longer, but, in the long run, it won’t be very long at all.  So don’t you worry.  You understand?”

“I guess so,” he replied and took another bite of his scone.

“You will be great someday,” Donna added.  ”Absolutely brilliant, just wait and see.”

Harry couldn’t see how that was possible, but she seemed to believe in it whole heartedly, so he just nodded and smiled at her.

“Can’t we show him anything, Doctor?  Take him somewhere or when?”

The Doctor stood up.  ”No, I’m sorry.  But, that’s not possible this time.”

Harry looked between the two.  ”After you leave me, are you sure it’ll get better?”

“I promise.  Absolutely,” the Doctor said to him.  ”And always remember, no matter what, you have friends who will be there for you always.  At any time.  You will have them forever.”

This made no sense, but it sounded nice.  Harry liked the idea of friends who loved him.  ”Are you my friends?”

“Of course we are,” Donna said, hugging him.

“Always and forever,” the Doctor added.

Harry wasn’t sure he’d ever have a time as happy as this one ever again, so he held tight onto Donna and tried to absorb as much of the moment as possible.

“We have to be off,” the Doctor said, looking infinitely sad.  ”You, dear boy, need to go home.  It’s getting dark outside.”

“Will I ever see you again?”

“I certainly hope so,” Donna said.  She looked at the Doctor.

“Yes, you’ll see us again.”

They all stepped out of the TARDIS and Donna gave him one last hug.  ”You take care now, okay?” she said, ruffling his hair.

“Remember that everything will work out for the best.  Just keep believing in that,” were the Doctor’s parting words as he stepped back into his ship.

The grinding noise sent the TARDIS off and soon, Harry was standing in the field alone again.  The sky was, indeed, getting darker.  He had to get home to the Dursleys soon.  Which triggered something.  How did the Doctor know who he lived with?  How did he know his cousin’s name?

Harry smiled.  It didn’t matter.  He had friends.

eponinian asked: Jo Harvelle and Draco Malfoy.
I don't even know how I came up with it, but do it! <3

Quick Note: we’re going to pretend that Draco, as we know him right after the war, exists at the same time that Jo exists just after she left home to hunt on her own.

Second Quick Note: As I’m writing this, it’s getting longer and longer and looonger, so I’m going to cheat for the end.  Sorry!

Third Quick Note: It’s a quiet, calm little thing, this fic.

~*~*~

“Nothing too big here in Canyon City, Oregon.  Killed a rugaru yesterday.  Thinking of going east next.  Northa Dakota or Minnesota.  All my love, your Joanna Beth.”

Jo signed the card quickly and stared at it for a bit.  Not the best one she’d written to her mom, but it would have to work.

She looked out into the almost empty bar and took a sip from her beer.  This was definitely one of the quietest towns she had ever been in.  And it was starting to make her feel lonely for the first time since she left home.

Just then, the door opened and a blond man slunk in and sat at the opposite end of the bar.  He was impeccably dressed and looked tired beyond his years.  And very handsome.

“Bourbon,” he said to the bartender.  An English accent.  Jo was no longer regretting her choice of town.  She took a swig of her beer and moved to sit next to him.

He didn’t even glance at her.  Instead, he swirled his whiskey and took a sip.

“So, how’d you end up getting here from England?”

“Long story.”  He took another sip of his drink as if to say, ‘and that is that.’  Of course, with Jo, it really wasn’t.

“I have time.  Or you can make it a short one.”

He gave her a side glance, then continued to stare straight ahead.  ”There was a war.  I was on the wrong side.  Now, I’m in America.  Running, drinking, reconsidering everything, and…” he stopped and looked at Jo.  He considered something.  ”I’ve already told you more than I wanted.”

“It’s okay.  You can share.  I won’t bite and you probably won’t ever see me again.  I’m just passing through.  Jo, by the way.”  She extended her hand.

“Draco,” he said down to his glass.

“Nice to meet you.  Now, what war were you in?”

“You wouldn’t believe me.”

“My life is all about the unbelievable.  What was this war?”

Draco sighed and rubbed his face with his hand.  Just thinking about it drained him.  ”It was a magic one.”

“Oh.”  This was not what Jo was expecting.

“See?  Now, you think I’m a nutter.”

“No.  No, not at all.  I’ve dealt with magic again.  It was really low level stuff, though.  Voodoo dolls and basic injury spell bags.”

Draco huffed.  ”Voodoo?  The magic I’m talking about is a bit more…advanced.”

“Then tell me.”

“Basically, there was this Dark Lord Voldemort and my family was on his side.  The other side was Harry Potter and his friends.  I stayed with Voldemort.  The war began.  I didn’t know what to do or who to trust.  Potter was a right pain because he made it all so difficult by saving my life.  Then, Voldemort was killed, Potter won, and I couldn’t stay there.  Personally, though, not because someone told me to leave.  So, here I am, trying to figure everything out.”  He took a sip of his whiskey.

“I can see that’s working out for you,” Jo said with a pointed look at the bar around them.

“You’re one to talk, ‘just passing through.’  What’s your story, then?  How did you end up here?” Draco said with some indignation.

“I just wanted to leave home.  That’s all.”  She drank.

“Yes.  That must be all there is.”

“There’s stuff you don’t get.  With family, friends.  It’s complicated.”

“Is it now?” Draco was being sarcastic now, putting his face in his hand and looking expectantly at her.  ”Do tell.”

The rest of the evening passed quickly in the tiny, quiet bar.  The two people from very different worlds finding solace in one another.

In case you don’t know, I love Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Chuck, Castle, Lord of the Rings, Lost, Glee, and some other stuff.
